How did I let it happen? How did I wake up one day to find myself at 286 pounds and completely miserable in my own body? It happened, I can't blame anyone but me. And only I can fix it. So I am. On December 23, 2009 I had Lap-Band Surgery with Dr. John Marsden. I'm down 100 pounds so far with about 25 to go.

2.5 weeks to go!

I am getting so excited for BOOBs I can't even express it properly!

This weekend was good. Saturday I went to the salon and had my brows done and a nice facial. I'm getting my hair prettied up the day before BOOBs so I will be looking my best for all you ladies!

Then Sunday I went with my BBF Beth to see The Producers at a theater here in DFW. I had never seen it before, and Beth never steers me wrong :) It was great! I laughed and laughed. There were several times I noticed I was just sitting there with a huge smile on my face. The actors were great and we had fantastic seats!

I am doing pretty good with my weight at the moment. I think I am being "normal" actually. I'm not over indulging and I'm not starving. I think this is what life is supposed to feel like! Shocking, who knew?!

Tonight is support group in my neck of the woods. Here's hoping we have a nice turnout and get to talk about some awesome stuff. Then I am ready to go home for the night. Fall TV is starting back up soon and I am so ready! I watch a whole slew of shows ... too many to list here. But if anyone wants to chat it up about any particular show, let me know!

That's all for now friends :)

BOOB of the Day

Yesterday I was the BOOB of the day! So many nice things were said about me, I got teary eyed :) Thanks to my leapsters for making my whole week.

I can't wait to meet all the new peeps this year and see some faces from last year. It is getting so close now!!

My weight is remaining steady at 195ish, which is up a few from last year but I'm not too upset about it. I have been taking a break from yoga for a few months but saw yesterday they have a new fall schedule starting after Labor Day and all the teachers at the 6:30pm classes are my favorites so I am pretty sure I'll be back to it then.

That's all for now!

Coming out of my slump ...

Ever since I had my latest fill I've been doing really well with my eating and weight loss. However, it has been quite difficult to take my medication. I've had a couple of instances after taking a pill (not a big one either, maybe the size of a tic tac) where I've had excessive salivation and even some gagging and heartburn. After this happened I got nervous to take my pills and have been avoiding them most days. Which for anyone who takes "happy pills" knows is not the best thing to do! Well, I used to have one of my medications in liquid format that requires you to mix it in with some kind of juice. I decided today that I would try that again - even though I wasn't thrilled about the extra calories the juice would add. I needed to do something because I could feel myself starting to slip into a downward emotional spiral and that is not a good thing.

What a difference!

I feel so much happier today than I have the past week or so. I finally told myself that I can deal with the extra calories each day in order to maintain my sanity. Plus I even got my walking buddy at work out and about for an afternoon walk in/around/up/down our parking garage at work. I would like to do that every day at least once a day, and try to build up to twice a day. l need to measure it one day, but if I had to guess it is probably a half mile with the route we take. Every little bit helps right?! :)

My first "blind" fill

I went today and had my fill, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either.

I went into the office and filled out some papers, then they took my weight and my blood pressure (108/70 thankyouverymuch!) then I went in to the room where they would do the fill. A very nice lady came in and I told her I was a bit nervous just because this was the first time I'd had a fill with no fluoro. She said she understood and that she would do her best to get me in and out of there. I laid down on the table and showed her exactly where my port is. It is very easy to feel under my skin so I didn't think there would be an issue. She asked if I wanted a numbing shot, but I declined as I've never had to do that before and figured this wouldn't be that much different. She proceeds and I quickly realize there is something not quite right going on, she could not get the needle into my port :( she must've messed with it for several minutes. I'm not normally a wuss about pain but this really hurt!! After me saying "ow!" several times, she finally gave it up and went and got someone else.

The second lady came in and I told her what had happened, she suggested I get numbed and this time I said yes since I was already sore from all the poking before. That made ALL the difference!!! It stung a little bit when I got the numbing shot but then when she put the bigger needle in I didn't feel a thing :) From what I could tell she hit it on the first try and it was all over in the blink of an eye. She gave me .3cc which brings me up to 5.8cc in my 10cc band. The last time when I had to have an unfill I had been at 5.9cc so they did a little less this time in hopes that I won't have any heartburn this time.

So that is my story, and from now on I will have the numbing shot because it was really worth it to me!!

Hope y'all are having a great day :)

Happy Fill Day!

I'm getting a fill today at 3:30 and I have to say that I'm a little scared.

You see, in the 2+ years since I got my band I have always had my fills first thing in the morning and under fluro with a barium swallow. Today is the first time that I will have one in the afternoon and in a regular exam room where they just "guess" how much to put in. I don't know what to expect and it is freaking me out! So keep your fingers crossed and send good thoughts my way please!
